FREE STALL OPPERTUNITY IN LEEDS.

Arts mix just emailed me with this great opportunity, I am actually back in Leeds at that point so might pop down myself. The Arlington business park is massive the O2 offices there are enormous. I used to work in the HSBC call centre myself!

NEW MOO BUSINESS CARDS LOOKING GOOD!

I am very happy today as I received a lovely package in the post this morning. My shop hosting site BigCartel are offering free business cards in partnership with MOO, a company who makes business cards postcards etc. I got 50 cards for free which was brill as I have not had any in ages and people always ask me for them. Plus I love saying "oh, you can have one of my cards" when people ask for my website, phone number etc. It makes me feel important and business like!

Every card has a different picture of a pices of Swank jewellery on it, MOO have a really easy to use uploader and editer for the design on the cards, this was great as the reason I have not had any cards for ages was that companies kept rejecting my design file for various print related reasons, until I got fed up and just didn't buy them.

As an amazing bonus all my cards are made from recycled paper, which is great as I always pay extra for recycled cards. I don't want to add to more waste in the world I make sure all my packaging and advertising is as green as possible. All my boxes are made form recycled card as well as my jiffy bags getting reused, as you may have noticed. the jiffy bags might not look as slick as new ones but it's a small price to pay for saving on landfill if you ask me!

If you have a BigCartel account I suggest you get some free cards while you can. They have to have BigCartel written on them, I don't have a problem with this as I love BigCartel they have made running my web shop so simple and their pages are so customisable.

WHAT DOES YOUR WEB DESIGN SAY ABOUT YOU?

I just read an interesting article about what the colours and forts you use on your website say about you and your company as well as what colours your demographic are most attracted to. Apparently I am authoritative and powerful!! Though gold is not listed there as a colours and is featured a lot on my web site. I refuse to believe that the colour of my logo is a type of brown, in my head it's a lovely shiny gold!

MO MONEY MO PROBLEMS

The good- I have sold a load of jewellery for Lady Volta, hooray! Thanks to people who have purchased, esp Mum! Now I look like the queen of the internet, which I clearly am!
The Bad- Now I have to give all the money to Jules and it's a lot. In Ghana cedis it feels like i am giving her my life savings!
The Ugly- SJP

LADY VOLTA CATALOGUE FINISHED (FINALLY)

Finally!! After weeks and weeks of sweaty photo taking in African heat, endless resizing of photos and the final stress of the file being 190MB and possibly a little to big to email!! We have sorted it! everything from the Lady Volta Jewellery line in one catalogue. MIRACLE REALIZATION OF HOW TO LINK BLOG TO WEBSITE.

At last I have linked this blog to my BigCartel store. Don't get excited I haven't yet linked it to my real website, that is like a faraway dream to me! Anyway, I'm hoping that this will lead to more frequent blogging from Swank. I am currently in Ho, in Ghana working for the most excellent Lady Volta Project designing jewellery for them and promoting it over the internet. most exciting thing at the moment is that I have sold a load of stock over the net. Never before done at Lady Volta! Now my task for the day is to get the ladies to make up the orders quick smart. Not an easy task in Ghana, the people are not noted for their sense of urgency!

OMFG! I have never been so in awe of a pair of trainers!! I know that these have nothing to do with Swank Jewellery but they will when I get to wear them!! They are part of a new Adidas collection due out in the states in February their second collaboration with Jeremy Scott. There are other pairs in the collection but the winged ones are possibly the coolest trainers ever. They come in gold and white and will cost between $120 - $250 which is not really that bad for the best trainers in the whole world. I am not sure if they will be released in the UK at the same time but we can only pray.

Yo! New designs out now! Swank has vowed to try to use as many re-purposed materials as possible in the designs to cut down on the waste the world is producing. With this in mind I have come up with the idea of laser cutting Lego baseboards into shapes. All the materials are re-purposed, apart from the findings for reasons of hygiene. I designed and cut all the components myself on a laser cutter kindly lent to me by a local school. In keeping with the Swank tradition of bright colours and 80s kitsch, these treasures are eye catching as well as environmentally friendly.

I am looking for a skilled worker to help me make up my designs. Due to high demand for the jewels I am finding it hard to keep up with making all products myself and would like someone to help me.

You will need to have experience of bead working but do not need to be able to solder or use metal working techniques. I would like someone self motivated who is a fast but precise worker.

The work will only be part time and very sporadic possibly on Saturdays or evenings. Ideally you will live in or around Leeds as I would like a chum to work alongside me so I can bounce ideas off them.
